India and China can team up on new ideas, says top Chinese official. This comes as young leaders from both countries meet to talk peace and growth.
The India-China Youth Dialogue 2026 kicked off in New Delhi on Thursday. Chinese Ambassador Xu Feihong spoke at the event. He said the two big nations should work hand in hand. “India and China can join forces on innovations,” Xu told the crowd of students and experts. He pointed to tech, science, and green energy as key areas.
Xu stressed that both countries face the same big challenges. These include climate change and fast economic shifts. “We must boost teamwork to protect the rights of the Global South,” he added. The Global South means poorer nations in Asia, Africa, and Latin America. India and China, as leaders, can speak up for them on the world stage.
The dialogue brings together 100 young people from India and China. They discuss topics like trade, culture, and jobs. Xu called for more people-to-people links. “Youth are the bridge for better ties,” he said. This event marks the fourth edition of the dialogue, started to ease tensions after border issues.
Both nations are fast-growing economies. Together, they make up over 35% of the world’s people. Better coordination could mean more jobs and tech breakthroughs.
Experts see hope in this meet. “Talks like these build trust,” said a Delhi think-tank head. Past clashes in Ladakh had strained links. But recent steps, like army pullbacks, show progress.
