This Monday, on September 1st, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit in Tianjin, China. While at the summit, PM Modi was seen having a warm exchange with world leaders like the President of China, Xi Jinping and Russia’s President Vladimir Putin. However, the moment that went viral was Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif looking visibly grim seeing PM Modi having chats with Putin before the session began.

The photos and videos that have come out from the event in Tianjin show great camaraderie among the three world leaders in Putin, Modi and Jinping. The moment drew everyone’s attention across the world as their strong ties will have serious geopolitical implications especially with the trade tensions that the United States President, Donald Trump has induced all around the world.

But as the world was happy seeing the three leaders growing close, Pakistan’s Shehbaz Sharif wasn’t so keen looking at the intense discussions that PM Modi was having with different leaders. The Indian leader was seen standing several places away from his Pakistani counterpart in the first family photo from the SCO summit in China.

Later in the day, the Prime Minister also posted some photographs on his official X handle where we can see him having friendly exchanges with both President Putin and President Jinping. He wrote, “Interactions in Tianjin continue! Exchanging perspectives with President Putin and President Xi during the SCO Summit.”

He also shared his photos with the Russian leader separately highlighting the strong bond they have stating it is always a good time to meet him. He wrote, “Always a delight to meet President Putin!”

Shehbaz Sharif’s reaction came at the helm of the heightened tensions between India and Pakistan after the horrific terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam in which 26 innocent people lost their lives. In retaliation to the terror attack, India carried out Operation Sindoor taking out 9 terrorist camps in the Pakistani territory. Ever since that the tensions between two nations have been going on as the world watches it keenly.
