The conflict between Israel and Iran has intensified many folds in the past few days as both countries have launched missile attacks on each other in the last four days. In the midst of all the attacks there are many Indian students who are stuck in Iran as they have closed their airspace.

Iran has responded to the requests by the India government and has ensured that they have opened land borders for safe evacuation for Indians stuck in Iran at the time of bombing. The Foreign Minister of Iran, Abbas Araghchi has given permission to the Indian government to carry out their diplomatic mission of safe evacuation of diplomats and civilians.

Mr. Araghchi stated in his response, “Given the current condition and the closure of the country’s airports, as well as the request of many political missions to transfer their diplomats and nationals abroad, we inform that all land borders are open for crossing.”

“The Indian Embassy in Tehran is continuously monitoring the security situation and engaging Indian students in Iran to ensure their safety. In some cases, students are being relocated with the Embassy’s facilitation to safer places within Iran. Other feasible options are also under examination,” the Foreign Ministry said.

The Government of Iran has asked the Indian government to submit the names, passport numbers and vehicle details of those who want to evacuate the country to the General Protocol Department. The government has also asked for travel details like the time and border through which they are looking to move out. All this is being done so that they can ensure safer passage of diplomats, students and other citizens.

The reports suggest that there are thousands of Indians that are stuck in various cities in Iran while the country is facing an all-out attack from Israel. There are more than 1,500 Indian students who are stuck in Iran as of now with most of them being from Jammu and Kashmir. With the support from Iranian government, the Indian government will be looking to start evacuating its citizen soon.
