The University of North Carolina Greensboro has appointed Dr. Joyendu “Joy” Bhadury as the next Dean of the Bryan School of Business and Economics after a comprehensive national search. Dr. Bhadury, who currently serves as the Interim Dean of the Bryan School, will assume the permanent role on April 1, 2025.
“I am both honored and humbled at this opportunity to continue serving the Bryan School,” Dr. Bhadury said. “I have always considered the Bryan School at UNCG to be my home and hence, I view this opportunity to lead my ‘home school’ not only as an honor but a privilege. I look forward to working with our talented faculty, staff, students, and external partners to ensure that the Bryan School continues its trajectory of excellence, especially in its long-standing tradition of facilitating student success and social mobility of its students through its culture of care for one and all.”
Dr. Bhadury is a recognized scholar in Operations and Supply Chain Management, especially Facilities Location Theory, with over 100 published intellectual contributions. His work has been funded by public organizations such as the U.S. Department of Labor and N.C. Department of Transportation, and private organizations such as FedEx and GlaxoSmithKline. Dr. Bhadury has been awarded a total of $1.44 million in external contracts and grants throughout his career.
Recently named a Fulbright Program Specialist (2024–27) in recognition of his contributions to international education, Dr. Bhadury has extensive experience teaching in graduate programs across the United States, Singapore, Hong Kong, Austria, Germany, Ghana, and South Africa.
“Dr. Bhadury brings extensive leadership experience, a distinguished record of scholarship, and a deep commitment to student success and community engagement,” Provost Alan Boyette said.
Dr. Bhadury has served as Interim Dean of the Bryan School since July 2024. Prior to this appointment, he was Dean of the Davis College of Business and Economics at Radford University and Dean of the School of Business and Management at State University of New York (SUNY) – Brockport. He previously served as Associate Dean of Graduate Programs and Research at the Bryan School, where he led significant improvements in external research funding and graduate program enrollment.
Dr. Bhadury earned his Ph.D. in Management Science with a minor in Computer Science from the University of Texas at Dallas in 1991 and his B.Tech in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University, India, in 1986.
The Bryan School of Business and Economics is an Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) accredited business school with more than 20 undergraduate programs, 6 master’s programs and 4 doctoral programs.
Dr. Bhadury will succeed Dr. McRae “Mac” Banks, who served as Dean of the Bryan School from 2011 to 2024.
