Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his 10 years of rule has focused on development, hoping that a third term for him would give India another five years of stability and provide him an opportunity to address some of the major challenges facing the country, said Rajiv Malhotra, an influential Indian American author.
“India can courageously counter all this (challenges being faced from outside the country). The reason India can counter all this is because of the Modi government. Despite all the things that people claim, argue and criticise, the fact is that they’ve delivered development. A lot more development is needed but they have delivered,” Princeton-based Indian-American author Rajiv Malhotra said to PTI in an interview.
You can show statistically that every segment of society, from the poor to minorities, has benefited. They now have roads, clean water, better health facilities, food, and education. This government has delivered, unlike the previous one which made promises but did not fulfill them,” Malhotra said.
For his third term, Malhotra suggested Modi focus on key challenges, including foreign interference in India’s internal affairs. He proposed creating a national think tank and amending the constitution to ensure equal rights and benefits for all Indians, regardless of caste, religion, or ethnicity.
Author Rajeev Malhotra, known for bestsellers like Breaking India (2011), Being Different (2011), Indra’s Net (2014), The Battle for Sanskrit (2016) is an Indian-born American Hindu nationalist ideologue, author and the founder of Infinity Foundation, which focuses on Indic studies. Apart from the foundation, Malhotra promotes a Hindu nationalist view of Indic cultures. In an interview with Times Now, he said that he coined the term ‘Hinduphobia’.
