Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has predicted that Dhurandhar 2 will become the biggest multi-starrer in cinema history, crediting the first film’s cast for achieving massive audience stardom. In a viral X post on January 18, 2026, the maverick director stated that every character from Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar—led by Ranveer Singh—has grown “enormously huge in the audience’s mind” in value and impact, redefining true stardom. He emphasized, “In the 1st part, the characters could have been small or big, but now all of them have become giant superstars, and hence #Dhurandhar2 will be the BIGGEST MULTI STARRER ever.”
The endorsement comes as Dhurandhar, released December 5, 2025, continues its box-office dominance, amassing Rs 871.90 crore domestically after six weeks and challenging pan-India narratives. Varma, a vocal supporter, previously called the epic action thriller a “pathbreaking and monstrous hit” on December 25, 2025, labeling it a “nightmare” for industry insiders unable to match its standards. He argued that upcoming “pan-India biggies,” modeled on pre-Dhurandhar formulas, face obsolescence, with the film emerging as the most discussed in 50 years.
Featuring Sara Arjun, R Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, Gaurav Gera, and Rakesh Bedi, Dhurandhar has solidified Bollywood’s clout over South cinema dominance. Varma’s hype amplifies anticipation for the sequel, positioning it as a cultural juggernaut. Earlier praises from Suniel Shetty, rating Ranveer “100/10” and Akshaye Khanna “10/10,” underscore the ensemble’s appeal. As buzz builds, Dhurandhar 2 promises to elevate every role into superstar territory, potentially reshaping Indian cinema’s multi-starrer landscape.
