Malayalam actor Unni Mukundan will portray Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the upcoming pan-India biopic titled “Maa Vande,” announced on the occasion of PM Modi’s 75th birthday on September 17, 2025. The film is directed by Kranthi Kumar and produced by Veer Reddy for Silver Cast Creations. It aims to explore Modi’s life from childhood through his rise as a national leader, with a special focus on his profound bond with his mother, Heeraben Modi, who shaped his character and spirit.

Unni Mukundan, known for his breakout role in the action film “Marco,” described his portrayal of Modi as overwhelming yet inspiring. He shared that having grown up in Ahmedabad, he first knew Modi as the state’s Chief Minister before meeting him personally, an experience that left a lasting impression on him. Mukundan highlighted two words Modi told him, “Jhookvanu Nahi” (“Never Bow Down”), which have remained a source of strength for him.

“Maa Vande” will be released in Hindi, English, and all major Indian regional languages, targeting a pan-Indian audience. The movie promises high production values with a reputed technical crew, including KK Senthil Kumar as cinematographer, Sreekar Prasad as editor, and Ravi Basrur as composer. The title “Maa Vande” reflects the film’s essence of a son’s journey inspired by his mother’s influence.

This project is distinct from the 2019 biopic “PM Narendra Modi” starring Vivek Oberoi. “Maa Vande” intends to present a fresh perspective, delving into the personal and emotional aspects that shaped the leader. The makers unveiled the first poster on social media, marking a tribute to Modi on his milestone birthday, and announced plans for a worldwide release.
