There are reports coming out stating that the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) which is an administrative body that looks after the famous and reputed Sri Venkateswara Temple in Andhra Pradesh’s Tirumala has suspended four employees. It is being reported that this action was taken as they found out that these employees were following religions other than Hinduism.

This Saturday, on 19th July, TTD announced that they are letting go of 4 employees who have directly violated the code of conduct of the institution. They stated that the decision was made after they conducted internal inquiries and received a report from their Vigilance Department. They made it clear that the institution’s code of conduct strictly prohibits the practice of non-Hindu religious faiths and their system must only adhere to the tenets of the Hindu faith in both conduct and practice.

“In this context, after examining the report submitted by the TTD Vigilance Department,  action was taken against them as per the rules and the four employees were immediately suspended,” stated a press release issued by the Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of TTD, Tirupati.

Bhartiya Janata Party’s TTD Board member, Bhanu Prakash has come out in support of the suspensions of these employees and has stated that they lacked faith in Hinduism. The said employees were using the diety’s resources but were maintaining faith in other religions. Prakash also stated that their struggle will continue until they remove every last non-Himdu employee from the institution.

The Chairman of TTD, B R Naidu headed a meeting where the board decided that they would transfer the employees who were not practicing Hinduism to other government departments or offer them voluntary retirement (VRS). A few days ago, the board had also suspended their Assistant Executive Officer (AEO) with immediate effect for practising another faith.
