A full house at Village East by Angelika was a moment of pride for Indian cinema as a special screening of ‘Tanvi The Great’ was hosted by New York Indian Film Festival on June 19, 2025. More than 370 guests from all walks of life, crème de la crème of New York attended as stars walked on the red carpet with glittering flash lights. A beaming Anupam Kher in tuxedo with lead actor Shubhangi and Producers were inundated with multiple requests for pictures by cinema lovers and fans of Kher.

The pin drop silence which marked the special screening was broken only by guests laughing and crying as ‘Tanvi The Great’ kept unfolding for about 160 minutes.

A hugely mounted film at a budget of about $6 million without star fees, engaged the audience with outstanding music, locations, photography and screenplay handled with excellence by Anupam Kher. Kher also plays an important anchor role in the film. Produced by Herman D’Souza, the duo has created a masterpiece that is set for release on July 18, 2025, worldwide.

The special screening was followed by a Q&A with top leads of the movie which was hosted by Aseem Chhabra of Indo-American Arts Council (IAAC).
Dr. H R Shah (Padma Shri), TV Asia Chairman & CEO, also attended the NYC premiere of Tanvi the Great, and expressed appreciation for the movie with a deeply moving and powerful message. Dr. Shah offered his sincere appreciation to Anupam Kher for crafting such a moving story and congratulated the New York Indian Film Festival and Sunil Hali for such a stellar opening to their milestone 25th edition.

The special screening event was presented by IAAC. Sunil Hali, formerly Executive Director and now the Board member of IAAC led the overall planning and execution with full support from Suman Gollamudi, the Executive Director of IAAC as sheet anchor.
