The tragic incident at the trophy celebration ceremony of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Bangalore has shaken people across the country. The mismanagement of the event has been put in question. While people pointed fingers at the security arrangements made by the Karnataka police, the department has reported that they informed the RCB management that they won’t be able to handle such a large crowd.

On June 4, Vidhana Soudha’s Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) MN Karibasavana Gowda wrote a letter to the department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms. He had stated in the letter that they do not have time to prepare the security to handle the amount of people that were going to show up.

The letter stated, “As the Royal Challengers Bangalore team has a large fan following across the country, holding the felicitation at the grand steps of Vidhana Soudha may attract lakhs of cricket fans, potentially creating security challenges due to a shortage of officers/staff in the Vidhana Soudha security wing.”

Mr. Gowda had stated that he needed additional personnel and police force at the venue for proper arrangements. He also stated that there is a requirement of coordination of the traffic police department and law and order for the successful management of this event.

Commissioner Gowda stated, “The event is to be held at 4:00 PM on 04.06.2025. There is a high chance that Secretariat officers/staff may bring their family members to the venue. Therefore, it is requested that orders be issued prohibiting staff from bringing families and declaring an afternoon holiday for Secretariat staff on the said date. Further, they should be instructed not to attend the event venue.”

The Commissioner stated that they would also have to restrict any online or offline passes that they might be planning to give to any public entry in Vidhana Soudha. He also pointed out that they might need the anti-drone systems. He emphasized that the current time frame that the RCB management is expecting won’t be sufficient enough to coordinate all that.
