Malayalam actor Vishnu Prasad dies awaiting liver transplant

Popular Malayalam television actor Vishnu Prasad had an untimely demise at a private hospital in Kochi on Friday early morning. The actor, 49, had been undergoing treatment for a severe liver-related illness and was in critical condition for the past several days. The death occurred around 1:09 am, according to the public relations wing at Aster Medcity Hospital.

The news was confirmed by actor and friend Kishor Satya, who expressed his grief through social media. Taking to Instagram, he wrote, Dear friends, a sad news… Vishnu Prasad has passed away. He had been undergoing treatment for an illness for quite some time now. My condolences… I pray that his family gains the strength to bear his untimely demise.”

Prasad was due to undergo a liver transplant soon, with her daughter being the potential donor for the expensive surgery costing around Rs. 30 lakhs. To help with the financials, the Association of Television Media Artistes (ATMA) had launched a fundraising campaign, but his condition deteriorated rapidly on Thursday night. The actor is survived by his daughters, Abhirami and Ananika.

Prasad has left a credible legacy with his movies such as Kasi (2001), Kaiyethum Doorath (2002), Runway (2004), Lion (2006), Mambazhakkalam (2004), Ben Johnson (2005), Lokanathan IAS (2005), and Pathaka (2006). He was also a notable figure in the Malayalam television industry.
