Mumbai Indians (MI) have secured their third win of the IPL 2025 season beating Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by four wickets. SRH on an unusually sluggish pitch at the Wankhede Stadium was restricted to 162 for 5 while MI hunted down their target with 11 balls to spare.
The showstopper of the match was Will Jacks, who started the season on a quiet note before showing all his value in his sixth match with his new team. His 26-ball 36 was an important innings, but he made an even bigger impact with his off spin, bossing his match-up against SRH’s entirely left-handed top three and finishing with 2 for 14 in three overs.
MI’s Jasprit Bumrah too was in his best form with their other fast bowlers constricting SRH with a plan heavy on slower balls and yorkers on a surface where powering the ball down the ground seemed impossible at times.
It is noteworthy that the mistake committed by Sunrisers Hyderabad wicket-keeper Heinrich Klaasen had turned around the dismissal of MI batter Ryan Rickelton, a highlight of the intensely packed match at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. During the 7th over of the MI innings, Rickelton was caught by Pat Cummins off the bowling of Zeeshan Ansari. But the third umpire spotted that Klaasen’s gloves were in front of the stump when the ball was bowled. And According to MCC rules (27.3), the wicketkeeper shall remain wholly behind the wicket at the striker’s end from the moment the ball comes into play until a ball delivered by the bowler – touches the bat or person of the striker or passes the wicket at the striker’s end or the striker attempts a run. As a result, it was judged to be a no-ball.
