IDP USA had their Curtain Raiser and Press Conference on Friday, June 28th, 2024, at the Theodore Roosevelt Executive and Legislative Bldg., 1550 Franklin Ave, Mineola, NY 11500. Officials and special dignitaries were present along with Senator Steve Rhoads and Mr. Vishal Jayeshbhai Harsh, Indian Consul (HOC & CPIO) in New York as chief guests. A Citation was presented to Consul Harsh on behalf of Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman by Senator Steve Rhoads. They were joined by leading businessman Mr Anil Jain and Private Client Representatives of Chase Bank besides other sponsors and esteemed community leaders and entrepreneurs.
This year the 13th India Day Parade will be celebrating India’s 77th Independence Day and is being organized on August 25th, 2024, and will begin in Long Island from Patel Brothers 415 S. Broadway, Hicksville, NY 11807 with several colorful floats and over fifty Marching groups and music bands in lead besides the largest IDP Official float. The final destination of the parade will be 125 W John Street in Hicksville where the kid’s fun area, retail and commercial booths as well as food stalls will keep everyone enthralled for the rest of the day. The stage for the India Day Parade will feature traditional dances, musical performances, and a variety of cultural displays, presenting a vibrant showcase of India’s rich cultural ethnicity.
The India Day Parade is an annual event that celebrates the progressive Indian Community at large coming together and jubilantly rejoicing to mark India’s Independence Day. The IDP Parade was started in 2012 and every year it has attempted to be bigger and better. Presidents Mr. Vimal K. Goyal and Dr. Deepak Bansal along with a dedicated team are making every effort to make the upcoming parade historic and highly successful yet again.
The National Anthems of the USA and India were sung at the top of the hour. Mr Anil Dua sang Indian patriotic songs that had many dancers waving the Indian flags. Ms Heena Khanijou and Ms Urvashi Kisoon of Kalakriti entertained the audience with amazing classical Indian Kathak dance recitals.
On behalf of IDP Founder and Nassau County Human Rights Commission, Commissioner Dr. Bobby Kumar Kalotee, Mr Jasbir (Jay) Singh praised the organizers of this parade. Speaking to the audience he said that every individual this time, also, was looking forward to making this parade historic.
Grand Marshall and Celebrities that will preside over the IDP will soon be revealed and recognized along with all those whose hard work makes the parade become a reality year after year. This parade reflects the ethos of Indian American community living in America. The IDP USA, expressed its gratitude for the Team that is putting a lot of their hard work, dedication and inspiration in moving the organization forward by working together and increasing the impact of Indians in America and across all the communities around.
Everyone present was thanked for participating in the program and urged to contribute to making this parade a grand success which was followed by dinner.
