NYC Chancellor David Banks demands for call to action on education

In a meeting with media in New York city, Chancellor David C. Banks stunned the audience with unbelievable facts. He with his Deputies shared dark facts of America as the nation faces huge challenges with lack of proficiency to even read. Said Chancellor Banks, “Today about 60% of Latino and Black community don’t have reading proficiency. Even the most glorified Asians and white are about 30%. Almost 1.2 million drop out causing an annual loss of $2.2 Trillion”.

Mayor Eric Adam’s has identified education as a core sector to improve for the city. A self-educated Mayor Adams is a role model as he has grown with education. He is keen to help the city youth transcend to next level with better education.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Chancellors Ms. Carolyne Quintana, Ms. Kara Ahmed and Ms. Daniel Rux. Ms. Quintana said with 1% increase in proficiency the nation can gain $240 billion annually.

Citywide, Detroit AR 91% and Rochester at 81% are the lowest while the Silicon Valley neighboring San Francisco is at 45%. The incarcerated adults are at 70% with little hope to improve.

Chancellor shared NYC plans under leadership of Mayor Adams to improve education. “We can’t neglect the demands of education and have to go on a war front”. Our children are the future and reading proficiency is the first step. While we aspire to compete with the world as it turns digital, we have focus on core and basics,” said Ms Quintana.

All the officials addressed media questions and requested for support to build awareness to implement the plans to raise the educational standards of our youth.
