An American-Indian couple, have given a fresh lease of life to a 2 year old boy Sindhu Lakkur, a doctor and originally from Karnataka and Naveen Vetcha working in space technology in US adopted the 2 year old boy, suffering from atrial septal defect (a congenital defect with a hole in the heart) from an orphanage in Bhuj.
Ila Mehta, manager of Kutch Mahila Kalyan Kendra’s orphanage , where the child was being raised after his parents surrendered him, said, “The surrendering process of the child was completed by the child welfare committee, As the child was very weak, he was admitted in a hospital and finally operated upon.”
The couple waited for 2 years before finally flying down to adopt the child. “This was a long, but fruitful process that took us two years,” said Vetcha, adding that the process started in April 2021 and ended after the selection of the child in June 2022.
