VIRGINIA IS FOR LOVERS, AND I LOVE IT BACK TOO!

Three years ago, I packed my bags, and drove across the country to Fairfax county, VA.  I was changing the priorities in my life…to my family, my health…and adopting a YOLO – You Only Live Once perspective. I knew it would not be easy…but I had hope and the love of my siblings, now so much closer. When I moved into my new home, I was instantly welcomed by loving neighbors who had known each other for 30+ years. I quickly adjusted to a new daily rhythm.

In 2008, the euphoria of Barack Obama motivated me to volunteer for the Democrats.  Here in the suburbs of DC, I put my energy into getting the Democrats at the helm of the country again, after four traumatic years of megalomania, distrust and discrimination. Watching Joe Biden and Kamala Harris bringing my country back together is exciting!

Let’s make sure that Virginia continues to reap the benefits of the good governance we currently have. During Democratic Governors McAuliffe and Northam’s terms, Virginia’s economy has grown and CNBC recently declared Virginia the #1 state to do business!  Virginia’s unemployment is well below the national average.  Democrats raised the state’s minimum wage to $12 an hour–the first increase since 2009. The last Republican governor left the state economy in shambles.

I am a small business owner, and Democratic Virginia has been a boon for my business.

We Asians believe in education…and hope our kids become doctors, engineers and lawyers…yes? Virginia’s Democratic leaders have made investments in public schools, made community college free for low- and middle-income students – a huge benefit for those who need the help. They expanded Medicaid–especially valuable for our parents and elders. Background checks for gun sales are now mandatory, and the landmark Virginia Clean Economy Act was enacted. With Coronavirus vaccine requirements, and mask mandates, COVID cases continue to plummet in the state.

I love my blue state of Virginia, and want to make sure it stays blue.  The Governor, Lt Governor, Attorney General, and House of Delegates are up for election on Tuesday, November 2, 2021. This is a close election–we need your votes. I hope that you, my fellow Asians, and your friends and families, will see all the good that has already been done, and vote with your heart to keep Virginia Blue.
