Indian American Garima Verma will be Digital Director for First Lady’s office

Michael LaRosa was named the press secretary and Rory Brosius the new Executive Director of the Joining Forces initiative.

The Biden transition team named Garima Verma as the Digital Director in the Office of the First Lady Jill Biden and Michael LaRosa the press secretary.

The transition also named additional members to the Office of the First Lady, picking Rory Brosius as the new Executive Director of the Joining Forces initiative.

Verma posted on Twitter that she is honored and excited to serve as the Digital Director for the “incredible First Lady.” She said: “This past year, I took a leap of faith. I didn’t know where it would lead — all I knew was that I wanted to dedicate my life to the service of others, to advocating for and empowering different communities, and to doing what I could to make the world a better place for everyone.” Verma further stated that she has no words to express what it means to work with “an intelligent, talented, empathetic leader like Dr Biden and tackle important issues facing our communities.”

The transition team stated that Verma served as an audience development and content strategist on the Biden-Harris campaign. Before the campaign, she was a volunteer with the content team, designing graphics for distribution to Biden-Harris volunteers across the country. Verma has also worked with Paramount Pictures, ABC Network, and Horizon Media. She was also an independent consultant in marketing, design, and digital for numerous small businesses and nonprofit clients.
