The inaugural Cyber Policy Dialogue between India and Singapore took place on October 17, 2024, in Singapore, marking a significant step in enhancing bilateral cooperation on cybersecurity. Co-chaired by Amit A. Shukla from India’s Ministry of External Affairs and David Koh from Singapore’s Cyber Security Agency, the dialogue focused on critical issues such as the evolving cyber threat landscape and national cyber strategies.

Both nations exchanged insights on their respective cyber policies and threat assessments, reflecting a mutual commitment to address rising cyber incidents, including data breaches and state-sponsored attacks. This dialogue aligns with broader efforts to strengthen digital security partnerships in the region.

The discussions also highlighted developments in global cyber governance under the United Nations, emphasizing the need for cohesive international responses to cybersecurity challenges. As both countries navigate an increasingly complex digital environment, this dialogue serves as a platform for identifying collaborative opportunities in capacity building and training.

The establishment of this dialogue is part of a larger initiative to bolster India-Singapore relations in various sectors, particularly in digital transformation. It underscores the importance of cybersecurity as a pillar of bilateral cooperation, aiming to create a secure digital ecosystem in the Indo-Pacific region.

This event follows recent announcements made by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the ASEAN-India Summit, further solidifying India’s commitment to enhancing its strategic partnerships within ASEAN. The dialogue is expected to pave the way for future collaborations in cybersecurity, ensuring both nations are better equipped to handle emerging threats.
