Indian women’s cricket team vice-captain Smriti Mandhana scripted a historic milestone in T20 International cricket, becoming the first batter across both men’s and women’s cricket to hit 600 fours in the shortest format of the game.
Mandhana achieved the landmark during India’s ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 clash against the Netherlands at Headingley. The left-handed opener reached the record in her trademark style, finding the boundary through the off-side before continuing her match-winning innings. She went on to score 74 runs off 47 deliveries, helping India register a commanding victory.
The achievement placed Mandhana ahead of every other cricketer in T20I history in terms of boundaries hit. Her consistency at the top of the order has made her one of the most successful batters in the format, with her elegant stroke play and ability to dominate bowling attacks across conditions earning global recognition.
Mandhana’s record adds to a series of remarkable milestones in her career. Earlier, she became India’s leading run-scorer in women’s T20 internationals and surpassed former India men’s captain Rohit Sharma’s T20I run tally. She has continued to break barriers while becoming a key figure in the growth of women’s cricket in India.
The Indian opener’s latest achievement came during a strong World Cup campaign for India. Her attacking start against the Netherlands provided the foundation for India’s massive total, while the team’s all-round performance secured a dominant win.
Cricket experts and fans hailed Mandhana’s milestone as another landmark moment for women’s cricket, highlighting how her performances have helped bring greater attention and respect to the women’s game. Her record also reflects the evolution of T20 cricket, where consistency, boundary-hitting ability and adaptability have become crucial measures of success.
