Ranveer Singh’s espionage thriller Dhurandhar continues its remarkable run, outpacing the new release Ikkis at the Indian box office on its 32nd day. The Aditya Dhar directorial earned Rs 4.75 crore nett on January 5, surpassing Ikkis‘ Rs 1.35 crore on its fifth day, per Sacnilk data.
Dhurandhar, released December 5, has amassed Rs 777.46 crore nett domestically, cementing its status as 2025’s highest-grossing Indian film, Ranveer Singh’s career-best, and the fifth highest-grossing Indian movie ever. Its worldwide gross hit Rs 1,214.40 crore, with a sequel slated for March 19 theaters. Starring Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, Sara Arjun, and R. Madhavan, the film tracks Indian spy Hamza Ali Mazari (Singh) infiltrating a Pakistan Lyari gang amid real events like the Kandahar hijack and 26/11 attacks.
In stark contrast, Ikkis, produced by Dinesh Vijan and directed by Sriram Raghavan, debuted January 1 to a modest Rs 21.60 crore nett. This biographical war drama on Param Vir Chakra hero Arun Khetarpal features Agastya Nanda’s second role post-The Archies, Dharmendra’s final screen outing, Jaideep Ahlawat, Sikandar Kher, and Simar Bhatia.
The feat underscores Dhurandhar‘s enduring pull five weeks in, even as Ikkis struggles amid post-holiday competition. Trade trackers note Dhurandhar‘s first major weekday dip yet strong hold, signaling mass appeal in spy-action genre. Early buzz hailed its patriotic narrative and Singh’s intense turn, fueling record-breaking streaks.
For Ikkis, the slow start raises questions on biographical dramas’ theatrical viability against established blockbusters. As Dhurandhar eyes further milestones, it highlights Bollywood’s blockbuster dominance in early 2026.
