Indian women’s cricket star Smriti Mandhana resumed batting practice ahead of the upcoming T20I series against Sri Lanka, just a day after confirming her wedding with music composer Palash Muchhal has been called off. Mandhana announced the breakup on Instagram, putting an end to mounting speculation after their November 23 wedding was postponed due to her father’s illness.
Mandhana described herself as a “very private person” and explained that she felt compelled to clarify the situation amid widespread rumors. She urged fans and the public to respect the privacy of both families and allow them space to heal and move on from the ordeal.
Despite the personal setback, Mandhana emphasized that her primary focus remains on cricket, expressing her commitment to representing India at the highest level. “I believe there is a higher purpose driving us all and for me that has always been representing my country,” she wrote. Mandhana said she hopes to continue playing and winning trophies for India for as long as possible.
Palash Muchhal also issued a statement, acknowledging the breakup and announcing his decision to move on. He shared his distress over baseless online chatter surrounding their relationship, asking for privacy and understanding during this difficult time.
Mandhana was pictured fully geared up, diligently practicing batting skills as part of preparations for the five-match T20I series against Sri Lanka beginning December 21. Her dedication to returning to the game highlights her resilience and professionalism amid personal challenges.
The Indian cricket community and fans have rallied behind Mandhana, showing support for her determination to prioritize her sporting career while navigating this sensitive phase of her life. Her example stands as a testament to putting country and passion first in the face of adversity.
