The Financial capital of India, Mumbai has been put on high alert after they have received several threats through WhatsApp messages of over dozens of blasts throughout the city. As Mumbaikars are all set to celebrate the culmination of the widely celebrated Ganesh festival tomorrow, this alert has set the city on unrest.

The threat message that was received on the WhatsApp helpline of the control room of the traffic police on September 4th had shocked everyone. The threat message has claimed that there are ‘human bombs’ that have been planted in 34 vehicles all across Mumbai and if the plan works it would shake the entire city.

The person who sent the message identified himself as a “Lashkar-e-Jihadi” and has stated that 14 Pakistani terrorists have entered India and will use 400 kg of RDX to blast the city. The threat added that the bombs will kill over one crore people.

“Our security forces can handle any threat. We are taking all preventive actions and security measures. We are checking all the places, from parking to the basement, nothing is being left untouched,” a senior officer said at a press conference.

The police department was put on alert following this message and has increased the security deployment covering the entire city in a security net. This is a huge threat as Mumbai is getting ready to celebrate Anant Chaturthi, which would mark the end of the 10-day Ganesh festival with the immersion ritual. As per the officials the threat is being investigated thoroughly and the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has been informed.
