The Indian Premier League (IPL), hailed as the biggest league in the world, is one of the highlight events in India every year. Many Bollywood stars are heavily involved in the IPL and some even own teams in the league but it is a curious case that one of the biggest movie stars of India, Salman Khan has never been involved with any franchise in the league.

This Sunday, on August 10th, at an event in Mumbai, Salman was asked whether he plans to buy any IPL franchise in the future. The ‘Bhai’ of Bollywood in his own unique style answered the question saying, “IPL ke liye too old ho gye hain hum (I have gotten too old for the IPL)”

To everyone’s surprise the actor revealed that he was offered to be involved with a franchise in IPL once however he didn’t accept it back then. Salman also made it clear that it is not one of his regrets that he was never involved with the IPL, he is pretty happy with where he is now.

“IPL offer hua tha uss waqt, liya ni. Aisa ni hain ki pachta rahe hain hum, khush hi hain.(IPL was offered at one point of time, but I didn’t take it. It is not like I have any regrets, I am happy),” Salman said.

From when the IPL began 17 years back in 2008, many bigtime Bollywood stars have been involved with the league. The ‘Badshah of Bollywood’ Shah Rukh Khan and veteran actress Juhi Chawla own the Kolkata Knight Riders who have won the championship three times (2012, 2014 and 2023). Another Bollywood actress Preity Zinta is one of the co-owners of the two time IPL finalists (2014, 2025) Punjab Kings (formerly known as Kings XI Punjab).
