After the grueling Lord’s Test that ended in a defeat by the hands of the host by just 22 runs, the Indian cricket team visited Clarence House in London the next day on 15th July to meet King Charles III. The King met both Indian Men and Women team and interacted with star Indian cricketers like Shubman Gill, Rishabh Pant and Jasprit Bumrah.

The Indian captain Shubman Gill was asked about how he felt meeting King Charles III and what they discussed. He stated how generous and kind the King was towards the whole team and even told them that they lost the Lord’s test match in a very unfortunate way.

“It was amazing to meet King Charles III and he was very kind and generous to call us. We had some really good conversations. King Charles III told us that the way our last batsman got out in the previous test match was quite unfortunate, the ball rolling on the stumps. He was just asking us how did we feel after that? We told him that it was an unfortunate match for us and could have gone either way. Hopefully, we will have better luck in both the next games,” Gill said at the meeting.

Gill was asked his opinions on the fact that many people stated that Test cricket won at the end of the match, referring to the outstanding play of cricket everyone saw on the last day. The Indian captain agreed with the sentiment stating that both the teams played well and if after 5 days of gritty Test cricket a team wins the match in the final session by just 22 runs then definitely test cricket won.

The Day 5 of the Lord’s test was one for the ages as at one point the match looked completely in England’s pocket but the fight Ravindra Jadeja showcased with Indian tailenders kept everyone on their toes. In the end, India lost the match in an unfortunate manner as Mohammed Siraj perfectly defended a ball from Shoaib Bashir but it spun back and rolled back to hit the stumps ending the Indian innings.
