This Saturday, June 28th Air India SATS have suspended four of their officials. The company has taken this move after a video has gone viral of the company officials partying only few days after the tragic crash of AI 171 in Ahmedabad on 12th June. As the video went viral there was a huge backlash towards the Airline which probed them to take the decision.
The company has issued a statement stating that they stand with the families of those who lost their lives in the horrific crash of June 12th. They have also addressed the viral video that had enraged the public and said that they deeply regret it and do not endorse this behaviour. They also assured everyone that an appropriate action has been taken against them.
“At AISATS, we stand in solidarity with the families affected by the tragic loss of AI 171 and deeply regret the lapse in judgment reflected in a recent internal video. The behaviour does not align with our values, and firm disciplinary action has been taken against those responsible as we reaffirm our commitment to empathy, professionalism, and accountability,” a spokesperson from AISATS said.
Air India SATS was the one that was tasked to prepare the load sheet for the AI 171 flight that was set to fly from Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Airport to London Gatwick. However, the Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft crashed just seconds after its takeoff in the afternoon. The crash took away 241 out of the 242 lives that boarded the plane that day making it one of the most tragic crashes in Indian history.
Air India SATS is a joint venture between the Indian airline Air India and Singapore-based SATS Ltd. They are tasked to provide ground services across many different airports throughout the country and were the ones that handled the load sheet for the tragic AI 171 flight.
