Cyber-attacks have become one of the most troublesome problems in the world in recent times. Recently, the Aditya Birla Capital Ltd.’s money management subsidiary was struck by a cyber-attack on June 9th. The attackers sold digital gold worth somewhere around Rs. 2 crore from more than 400 different accounts from the subsidiary.

The organisation found out about the attack when they detected that there were traces of an unauthorised access to digital gold that was worth Rs 1.95 crore from 435 accounts. However, the company was quick to restore the holdings in the accounts of the affected customers in some time.

They had confirmed that the organisation has taken corrective actions and froze the fund transfers across various different bank accounts. The company also stated that they have resolved the technical vulnerabilities that were there around the cyber attack.

Aditya Birla Capital Digital has addressed the situation and stated that they are working with cyber insurance partners, law enforcement and CERT-In to make sure that correct actions are implemented in finding out the accused. The Central Region Cyber Police launched an investigation to find out who was behind these attacks in the first place.

It was reported that the attacker hacked into the application programming interface and the server of the Aditya Birla Capital Digital. After that attacker bypassed the mandatory One Time Password (OTP) Verification process and transferred the digital gold worth Rs. 1.95 crores.

The company officials have confirmed that there is no issue as of now and all the digital gold services are live and secure on their platform now. The company has informed that they buy and sell digital gold through a government-authorised entity while all its transactions are done using Razorpay.
