The Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI) is pleased to present the 2025 Legislative Champion Award to Congressmen Ami Bera, MD (CA-D), in recognition of his dedicated, bipartisan efforts on behalf of the nuclear medicine community.

Congressman Bera worked to include report language that promotes a focus on nuclear medicine research within the Department of Defense’s (DoD) Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs (CDMRP) in Fiscal Year (FY) 2024 Department of Defense (DoD) funding legislation. His leadership on this initiative has helped advance research aimed at improving the health outcomes of service members, and others, while also reducing the DoD’s financial burden for cancer treatments.

The 2025 Legislative Champion Award was presented to Congressman Ami Bera at SNMMI’s Hill Day on March 26, 2025.

Congressman Ami Bera, M.D. has represented Sacramento County in the U.S. House of Representatives since 2013. The 6th Congressional District is located just east and north of California’s capital city, Sacramento, and lies entirely within Sacramento County.

On behalf of SNMMI’s more than 15,000 members, we extend our gratitude to Congressmen Bera for their support of the nuclear medicine community.
