Michigan Governor, Gretchen Whitmer has appointed Dr. Ashok Kondur as a new member to the Central Michigan University, Board of Trustees. He will serve an eight-year term, subject to the advice and consent of Michigan’s State Senate. His service on the board begins January 1, 2025, and will extend through December 31, 2032. The CMU Board of Trustees consists of eight members appointed by Michigan’s governor under authority granted by the state constitution.
Dr. Ashok Kondur, of West Bloomfield, is an interventional cardiologist at Dearborn Cardiology, and serves as director of mechanical circulatory support and complex and high-risk coronary intervention at Henry Ford Health and as chairman of the Garden City Hospital Division of Cardiology.
Kondur earned a bachelor’s degree in science and biology from Sarvodaya College in India; an MBA in finance and marketing from Indiana University’s Kelly School of Business; and a medical degree from Osmania Medical College in India. He completed residencies and specialty training in cardiology and internal medicine at Wayne State University.
“I look forward to introducing Trustee Dr. Kondur to the CMU community,” said CMU President Neil MacKinnon. “His experience and expertise will be outstanding additions to the Board and to our university.”
Dr. Kondur is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Interventional Cardiology and Cardiovascular Medicine, and holds board certifications in Echocardiography, Vascular Medicine and SPECT & PET Imaging.
He is a fellow of the DMC hospital and Harper University Hospital in Detroit, Michigan.
