The Akhil Vishwa Hindi Samiti, New York (AVHS) celebrated Hindi Divas with great enthusiasm at the Hindu Center in Flushing. The event opened with a traditional lamp lighting ceremony led by AVHS President Dr. Bijoy K. Mehta, joined by executive committee members Dr. Bindeshwari Aggarwal, Professor Girija Shanker Dubey, Sri Jitender Sharma, Sri Ravindra Kumar, Surinder Kathuria, and Purnima Desai. Special guests included Dr. Raj Tiwari, President of the International Hindi Samiti, New York, and Pandit Ram Niwas Dixit Ji.
Although Executive Vice President Pradeep Tandon, Akhil Vishwa Hindi Samiti was unable to attend as he was at an event related to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s visit to Nassau Coliseum, he sent his best wishes for the grand success of the celebration.
The evening’s highlights included vibrant performances by children from the Hindu Center’s Hindi classes, led by their dedicated teachers, Sri Ashwani Kumar and Professor Rupam Saran. Dr. Mehta announced that the Hindu Center would be offering free Hindi classes to the local community, emphasizing the importance of preserving the Hindi language. He also awarded the children with certificates of recognition and gifts to encourage their efforts.
The event concluded with a lively Kavi Sammelan (poetry recitation), organized by Dr. Mehta and Dr. Bindu Aggarwal. Local poets, including Priyanka Tripathi, Nayana Nigliye, Rajnish Sharma, Mangla Sand, Purnima Desai, Jagdish Awasthi, and Dr. Bijoy Mehta, captivated the audience with their poetic expressions.
The Hindi Divas celebration was a resounding success, leaving attendees inspired and proud of their linguistic and cultural heritage.
