Recently, an event was organized by Toronto-based Madhurageetham 101.3 FM marking their 20th anniversary milestone. This highly anticipated pageant took place in Toronto, with 30 finalists across Canada in the Miss and Mrs category. The organizers behind Miss and Mrs Malayali Canada are Vijay Sethumadavan, CEO and Co-Founder, and his wife Mridula Menon, Pageant Director and Co-Founder.
They also lead the Malayalam FM Madhurageetham which completed 20 years of radio broadcasting this year. They stated that “Over the past 2 decades, Madhurageetham FM has been a vital source of connection for the community, providing news, entertainment, and cultural programming that keeps the Malayali spirit alive, even far from home.”
This pageant is an extension of their vision to be a voice for the Canadian Malayalees and to provide a platform for Canadian women of Malayali origin to showcase their talent, grace, confidence, and above all feel empowered and embrace their cultural richness. This pageantry is a testament to their commitment to preserving and promoting the rich cultural heritage of Kerala within the Malayali diaspora in Canada.
An esteemed panel of judges included Fashion Icon, Actor, and Television personality Poornima Indrajith, Actor/Producer/Business Executive Tom George from New York, and Annie Manjuran, CEO and Founder of Mrs Canada Inc.
In the Miss category, Anisha George was crowned as Miss Malayali Canada 2024, Hunena Navas was the first runner-up, and Gifty Shaju took home the second runner-up title. In the Mrs category, Janani Maria Antony was crowned as Mrs Malayali Canada 2024, Mili Bhaskar was the first runner-up with Veena Baby finishing as the second runner-up winner.
The Title winners Anisha and Janani get a direct entry into Miss and Mrs Canada Inc. which will take place in July in British Columbia.
