In a tragic incident, two cousin sisters from Nurmahal, Punjab, were shot on Wednesday by a youth from Jalandhar in New Jersey, US. The cousin sisters have been identified as Jasvir Kaur, 29, and Gagandeep Kaur, 20.

Unfortunately, Jasvir Kaur succumbed to her injuries. The accused shooter, identified as Gaurav Gill from Jalandhar district, has been arrested by the police. The motive behind the shooting is yet to be ascertained.

US-based Jasvir Kaur (29), who hailed from Nurmahal in Jalandhar district, was planning to surprise her parents with the news of her pregnancy but shockingly lost her life in this fatal shooting.

Jasvir’s mother said, “We didn’t even know that my daughter was going to have a baby. She stood up for her sister and lost her life. The accused, about whom we never heard about, wanted to take Gagan along, but Jasvir told him to stay away. He took out a pistol and shot them.”

Gaurav and Gagan, who shared a history of studying together at an IELTS center in Punjab, had both relocated to the US, driven by their families’ hopes for a better future. Recent reports indicate that on Wednesday, an incident occurred involving Gaurav at the residence of Gagan and Jasvir, resulting in both being found injured on the sidewalk.
