Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently launched the ‘Chalo India Global Diaspora Campaign’ to inspire the Indian diaspora to become Incredible India ambassadors and promote tourism to India.
With more than 30 million overseas Indians, the Indian diaspora is the largest diaspora population in the world. The initiative urges the Indian diaspora members to encourage 5 non-Indian friends to travel to India.
PM dedicated to the nation and launched 52 tourism sector projects worth more than Rs 1400 crore under Swadesh Darshan. He visited Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir. For Chalo India campaign, a special website is launched, where the members of diaspora can register.
The High Commission of India in London has flagged off two major campaigns targeted at the diaspora – Chalo India to promote tourism and Living Bridges to celebrate the contributions of people of Indian origin to life in Britain.
The Indian Tourism sector ranks among the fastest-growing economic sectors in the country. The industry significantly impacts employment and drives regional development, while also creating a multiplier effect on the performance of related industries.
