As part of the tribute to Ambedkar’s influence on human rights and equality, the Statue of Equality will be inaugurated in Maryland on October 14. This will be part of the Ambedkar International Center (AIC) in Accokeek, Maryland, and will be the tallest statue of Ambedkar outside India, as per the release.

A 19-foot-tall statue of Dr B.R. Ambedkar hailed as ‘Statue of Equality,’ has been crafted by Ram Sutar, a renowned artist who also created Sardar Patel’s ‘Statue of Unity’ in Gujarat.

Located at 15755 Livingston Road, Accokeek, MD 20607 (just 21 miles away from the White House, Washington DC), this momentous event will celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, a visionary leader and champion of social justice.

As per AIC, this statue is a symbol of Ambedkar’s enduring influence and will honor his contributions to equality, human rights, and empowerment. It will be part of the larger Ambedkar Memorial being constructed at the center.

This ‘Statue of Equality’ in Maryland is a replica of the world’s largest Ambedkar statue, located in Hyderabad and which stands 125 feet tall.

AIC said it expects a large number of followers of the Ambedkarite movement, as well as representatives from various countries to attend the unveiling ceremony on October 14, the day on which, in 1956, Ambedkar and lakhs of his followers converted to Buddhism.
