10,000 Indian Americans chant Bhagwad Gita on Guru Purnima

As many as 10,000 Indian Americans chanted Bhagavad Gita in the presence of spiritual saint Pujya Sri Ganapati Sachchidananda Swami at Allen East Center in Texas, USA on July 03 on the occasion of Guru Purnima. This event was organized by Yoga Sangeeta and SGS Geeta Foundation as ‘Bhagavad Gita Parayan Yagya’.  Saint Pujya Sri Ganapati Sachchidananda Swami is pontiff of Avadhoota Datta Peetham at Sri Ganapati Sachchidananda Ashrama in Mysore, India.

The grand scale of the event marked the first of its kind in the US attended by people of varying age groups. Guru Purnima is a religious festival wherein people express their gratitude towards spiritual and academic mentors.

This festival is also known as Vyasa Purnima and has been traditionally observed in significant regions of India, Nepal, and Bhutan by followers of Hinduism, Jainism and Buddhism.
