The Health Camp of New Jersey (HCNJ), in collaboration with Karuna Seva and Shree Umiya Parivar of USA successfully organized Community Health Fair on Sunday, June 15, 2025 at Umiya Dham Temple in Edison, NJ. The event drew significant community participation for a day dedicated to accessible healthcare, health education, and wellness services to more than 125 individuals.
The fair provided free health screenings, consultations, and educational resources, reflecting all three organizations’ commitment to enhancing community health outcomes. Services included:
- Electrocardiogram, Blood tests included CBC, lipid levels, hemoglobin A1c, and thyroid supported by the LabCorp
- Physical examination, cardiology, neurology and other services

Attendees received personalized consultations with healthcare professionals across various specialties, ensuring high-quality service and valuable health guidance. A number of volunteers contributed to the fair’s success, including members from the Health Camp of NJ, Karuna Seva, Umiya Dham-Edison, and other community groups and individuals.
In addition to medical services, the fair focused on priority health concerns in the South Asian community, including:
- Cancer prevention education
- Mental health screening and counseling
- Stroke education & awareness
- Dental Screening for oral cancer and education for oral health
- Eye screening for glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy

Participating organizations included:
- SSAI
- SATHI – Rutgers
- SAMENA – Alzheimer study for South Asians
- SAMHIN (mental health services)
- Project BEST (eye screenings)
- CARE (Collaborative Approach for Research and Education)

The event also provided chronic disease prevention resources, guidance for underserved populations, and information on affordable healthcare options and insurance enrollment. Community feedback was overwhelmingly positive. Many attendees expressed gratitude for the opportunity to access free, high-quality care and shared how the event helped increase their awareness of health issues and available resources.
HCNJ, Karuna Seva & Umiya Dham Temple aim to continue this impactful collaboration, planning future health fairs and expanded services to reinforce their shared mission of providing community-centered, culturally competent healthcare.

The next health fair will take place on Sunday, July 27, 2025, at Balaji Temple in Bridgwater, NJ. The online registration is open for all at www.IHCNJ.org. With a legacy of more than 13,500 individuals screened and over 4,000 chronic conditions identified in the past 25+ years, HCNJ continues its dedication to community wellness. At its 25th Anniversary Gala in November 2023, HCNJ announced plans to launch a Community Health Center by 2026, aimed at providing ongoing care and follow-up services for underserved populations.
