The monthly general meeting of Indian Seniors of Chicago was held on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at 11:30 a.m. at Manav Seva Mandir. About 255 members attended. The program started with prayers and Hanuman Chalisa by members Mr. Deepak Patel, Mrs. Kokila Patel, Mrs. Janakbala and Mrs. Mayuraben Desai and Binaben Mehta and all the brothers and sisters joined in singing. The program was conducted successfully by Shri Manubhai Shah. After that Mr. CV Desai presented the account of January 2023 and also mentioned the names of the donors. Srimati Jyotika Vyas sang a beautiful bhajan of Sivastuti in her special raga.
After that, a program was held to wish the members whose birthdays fall in the month of February. Mr. Dilip Patel requested the members whose birthdays are coming forward. Then all the members greeted Sarve by singing ‘Bar Baar Din Aye Tum Jeo Hazara Saal’ together. Today’s birthday members were felicitated with birthday cards by the best singer of songs Mr. Rajesh Chalan.
Shri Bipinbhai Shah presented beautiful details about Mahashivratri. Mahashivratri is not the birthday of Shiva. Because Shiva is the immortal, omnipotent, benevolent, illusory God. Maha means great, Shiva means welfare. Hence, Mahashivratri is a night to remember the great welfare deeds done by Shiva and the wonderful avatars he took for them. Along with this, he gave detailed information about the 19 avatars of Shiva, Halahal Vish leaf, Swayambhu Pragatya in Somnath, Sati’s entry into the fire of Yajna, Veerbhadra avatar and Tandava: Nutya, Daksha Prajapati’s death, establishment of fifty-one Shakti Peetha. It spoke of Shiva’s marriage to Parvati, the daughter of a Himalayan king who was an incarnation of Sati, the birth of Kartikeya and Ganapati, and the slaying of the demon Tarakarasur.
After this a successful Valentine’s Day celebration was conducted by Mr. Durgesh Shah in which twelve couples participated. All the couple acted with love songs Mr. Rajesh Chalan who is a professional singer assisted in singing the love songs. Mahendra and Kailash Patel, Bipinchandra and Janakbala Shah, Satis and Daksha Parikh, Jayanti and Kala Ojha, Ashok and Geeta Desai, Chandravadan and Neeta Chudasama, Siddharth and Neeta Zaveri, Rameshbhai and Hansaben Patel, Kantibhai and Hasumati Patel, Chandrakant and Mary Shah, Manhar and Meena Parikh Durgesh Alpa Shah were the participating couple.
In today’s new program, professional singer Mr. Rajesh Chalan came and entertained the members by singing many movie songs.
Bhanuben Mehta, Pankaj and Bina Mehta, who donated for the lunch, were felicitated with flowers in today’s event. Professional singer Mr. Rajesh Chalan was felicitated with flowers by Minister Mr. Hirabhai Patel. After that, the members parted after having a delicious lunch.
