The e-commerce giant Amazon is planning to launch its computer science education program in India.

The program, called Future Engineer Program, aims to fund computer science classes to help learn coding and computers. The company had debuted this initiative in the United States in January last year and served 550,000 students.

According to TechCrunch, Amazon has hinted at launching the Future Engineer Program. A job posting read:

“The Corporate Social Responsibility team in Amazon India is seeking a passionate, impact-focused individual to support on launching Amazon Future Engineer in India. This is a full-time contract position for a minimum period of 12 months.”

The company said the process to bring computer science education to India is currently underway.

Amazon has invested more than $6.5 billion in India so far and has been traversing the education space in the country for while now. Last year, it launched an app named “JEE Ready” aimed at helping students prepare for entrance exams to get admitted into India’s prestigious technology institutes.

The Amazon Future Program  aims to provide a childhood-to-career program for underrepresented and underserved communities to have access to good quality computer science education.
