Senator James Sanders, Assemblymembers Alicia Hyndman and Clyde Vanel, and City Council Members Adrienne Adams, Selvena Brooks-Powers and Peter Koo endorsed Eric Adams for Mayor of New York City—bringing his total Queens endorsements to 19 elected officials. At the event outside Jamaica Colosseum Mall, Adams also announced his “Heart of the City” plan for revitalization of the outer boroughs.
“Our city is facing many tough problems and we need a strong leader to be our new mayor, someone to help bring our city back to vibrancy following the coronavirus pandemic, civil unrest and economic decline,” said State Senator James Sanders Jr. “There is only one candidate with the strength, the knowledge and the fortitude to take on these issues and usher us into a new age of prosperity, and that candidate is Eric Adams. His long-time career in public service speaks for itself: two decades in law enforcement, three terms as a New York State Senator and now Brooklyn Borough President since 2014. He gets the job done. I am proud to endorse Eric Adams as the next Mayor of New York City.”

Adams also announced his “Heart of the City” plan, focused on supporting local small business growth, leveling the City contracting playing field for minority- and women-owned business enterprises (MWBEs), putting public safety first, and keeping the outer boroughs moving through improved public transportation.“I was born in Brownsville and raised in South Jamaica. There’s no question that the outer boroughs are in my heart, and they will be at the center of every decision I make at City Hall. Our communities demand more than respect; we expect results,” said Eric Adams.
The “Heart of the City” plan includes:Supporting Small Business Growth: Launching a “back office” assistance initiative through local chambers of commerce to support accounting and compliance needs for mom-and-pops and new entrepreneurs; eliminating filing and registration fees for new or restarted businesses; making the permitting process easier and cheaper through our new online portal, and instituting a warning system for relatively minor violations so first-time offenders are educated instead of fined; creating a formal local banking network to expand support for small businesses in communities of color, and helping these lenders have a more robust equity base
With the new endorsements, Adams has now been backed by 19 Queens elected officials, including Rep. Tom Suozzi, Assemblywoman Jenifer Rajkumar, Council Members Francisco Moya and Daneek Miller, and eight District Leaders.
Adams has also been endorsed by DC37, the Hotel Trades Council, OPEIU Local 153, 32BJ SEIU, and the OFOA, as well as State Sens. Diane Savino, Roxanne Persaud and Andrew Gounardes; Former Bronx Borough President Freddy Ferrer, Assms.
