In a solemn and deeply moving ceremony held at Ludhiana Military Station on 01 November 2026, Shradhaa Foundation extended financial assistance for education to 08 Veer Naris and their children belonging to Havildar and below ranks.
The cheques for educational scholarships were presented by the Chief Guest, Lieutenant General Manoj Kumar Katiyar, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Command, in the presence of senior Army officers, distinguished veterans and families of bravehearts.
Shradhaa Foundation is a dedicated NGO founded by Col Virendra S Tavathia and Mrs Seema Jagtiani, whose sole mission is to support the widows and children of Indian Soldiers of Havildar and below ranks. The Foundation firmly believes that while our soldiers lay down their life today for our tomorrow, their families – especially those from lower ranks – are left most vulnerable.
The Foundation’s core resolve is: No child of a fallen soldier shall be forced to leave school for want of money. Every such child will be supported for quality education up to Grade 12.
The eight Veer Naris from the Punjab region were selected after rigorous verification of most genuine and needy cases by Col Raghbir Singh, President, TSEWA, Punjab. The assistance will cover complete educational expenses including school fees, books, uniform and other academic needs.
Addressing the gathering, the Army Commander, Western Command, lauded the noble and selfless initiative of Shradhaa Foundation and stated that the welfare of Veer Naris and their children is the collective responsibility of the entire nation. He noted that the Indian Army remains fully committed to the care of its extended family and specially appreciated the Foundation’s focus on Havildar and below ranks, who form the real backbone and fighting strength of the Indian Army.
Col Virendra S Tavathia, Founder, Shradhaa Foundation, said “This is our Shradhaa – our gratitude, our reverence and our tribute to our brave soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice. Their children are our children, and we will ensure they study, grow and prosper.”
The ceremony concluded with a heartfelt interaction with the Veer Naris and their children, followed by a vote of thanks. The noble initiative was widely appreciated by all present.
