The Corona virus scare that is currently surging in India continues to grow as the country finds out that the total number of cases are nearing the 6000 mark. Although the number might sound less in comparison to the Covid-19 breakout, it still amounts to a pretty high number of cases.
According to the data available on the official website of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, 391 new cases were added to the active case count since Friday making the total number of cases climb to 5,755. It is also being reported that there has been a total of 59 deaths recorded in the past few weeks due to the deadly virus so far.
The brunt of this resurgence in total cases is being faced mainly by Kerala which has a total of 1,806 cases. Gujarat has the second most cases with a total of 717 followed by Delhi 665, West Bengal 622 and Maharashtra has recorded a total of 577 cases so far. Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu have reported 444, 208 and 194 cases, respectively. Puducherry 13, Haryana 87, Andhra Pradesh 72, Madhya Pradesh 32, and Goa nine have also recorded some cases.
The Indian Council of Medical Research’s (ICMR) Chief Dr Rajiv Behl has stated that the virus is mild in nature and the public should not start panicking. He assured that they are keeping a check on the virus and can say the cases are not increasing as quickly as the last time.
“Whenever cases increase, we look at three things. It’s dependent on three factors, with the first being how transmissible it is, conversely, how fast the cases are increasing. Previously, we saw Covid-19 cases double in two days, but this time it is not that cases are increasing rapidly,” Dr Behl said.
