Even before its theatrical release, Ramayana has set another industry benchmark, with T-Series reportedly acquiring the music rights for both parts of the epic for a record ₹75 crore in an advance deal. The agreement is being described as the biggest music rights deal for a Hindi film to date, underlining the immense commercial expectations surrounding the ambitious two-part project.
The acquisition comes just days ahead of the film’s trailer launch and adds to a string of high-value pre-release business deals already secured by the makers. Industry reports suggest the music rights attracted intense competition from several leading labels, before finalising the agreement with T-Series.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and backed by producer Namit Malhotra, Ramayana features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana. The film has generated considerable buzz for its scale, visual effects and star-studded cast, while its soundtrack—composed by Academy Award winners A.R. Rahman and Hans Zimmer—has been viewed as one of its biggest attractions.
The record-setting music deal follows other major commercial agreements linked to the film. Earlier this month, Dharma Productions reportedly secured the domestic theatrical distribution rights in a deal valued at around ₹250 crore, highlighting strong confidence from industry stakeholders well ahead of the film’s release.
With an estimated production budget running into thousands of crores and a global marketing campaign planned on an unprecedented scale, Ramayana is emerging as one of the most expensive and closely watched Indian films ever mounted. The first instalment is scheduled for a Diwali 2026 release, with the second part expected to arrive during Diwali 2027.
