After the unfortunate incident at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, people’s emotions are running high and Virat Kohli seems to be taking the brunt of it. Virat Kohli who was seen on Thursday at the Mumbai Airport alongside wife Anushka Sharma, has been facing major scrutiny as fans were disappointed at the cricketer’s early departure.

The hate for the star cricketer has been spreading like a surging fire over social media with trends like #arrestkohli becoming the top trends. Fans stated that kohli not staying back and leaving the country instantly is a very insensitive move on his part.

The social outrage grew even more after there were reports surfacing online which suggested that the event was rushed despite the police wanting more time. The reports claimed that Karnataka police had asked for two days to ensure proper preparation for the event. But their request was denied as a senior cricketer from RCB had to leave for London and couldn’t have waited that long.

This decision resulted in the event being rushed and thus explaining the mismanagement that led to the loss of 11 lives while more than 50 were injured. People were highly disappointed by the former Indian captain as they pointed out that there was no response from him on the situation other than his social media post.

Kohli shared RCB’s official statement on his Instagram account in which the team share the deep regret on the tragic incident. He also wrote on his social media account, “Deeply saddened to hear about the incident. My thoughts and prayers go out to the families and loved ones of the victims.”

The star cricketer is facing serious backlash from the national media as well. Senior Journalists like Arnab Goswami, the Editor-in-chief of Republic TV, have bashed Kohli after the incident. He was also criticising Kohli for not meeting the family of the victims and those who lost their lives in the stampede. Arnab said that they were Kohli’s fans who were present at the stadium and lost their lives in a stampede just to get a glimpse of him.
