Kapil Sharma is most probably the biggest comedian in India. He had changed the landscape of the Indian comedy scene but in a recent interview Sharma was seen as a bit serious, talking about his late father who was a head constable in the Punjab Police and passed away in 2004 after a seven-year-long battle with cancer.
Kapil talked about his childhood and how his father was hardly able to be with them as he was always busy at work. They were so disconnected that Kapil didn’t even understand the concept of family dinners until he moved to Mumbai. He also specified how thankless a Policeman’s job is as they hardly get recognised for the work they do.
In the interview, Kapil said, “I have seen my father working so hard. And the Police force is such a thankless job. We barely went out as a family, neither have we celebrated festivals because he wouldn’t have any offs for us. It has been in Mumbai, where I saw that we have family dinners, weekends and all. So, I realised that I would do something that makes me enjoy my job. I need to be passionate about it. And talking about focus, I had no other choice. My dad had a government job and getting one such job is difficult.”
The comedian-actor also explained how becoming an artist wasn’t just his dream but his father’s dream too. He revealed how his father also used to do theatre plays and always supported him in becoming an artist as well.
“My dream of becoming an artist wasn’t just mine. It was my father’s dream that I made it come true. When he came to my first theatre play, he showed me some pictures of him where he revealed that he even used to do theatre plays as well and I had no idea about it. Whenever I would tell him about my plays and group songs, he would get really happy. He never told me about it but then when he shared about it I feel, it’s their dreams that I have fulfilled,” he stated.
Kapil Sharma is all set to start the third season of his hit show – The Great Indian Kapil Show which is available on Netflix. He is not only a comedian but has ventured into acting as well with projects like Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon and Zwigato. He is currently occupied in shooting the sequel for his hit film Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon.
