The US East Coast group of the IIT Roorkee Alumni Association of North America (IITRAANA) proudly hosted its much-anticipated 6th annual alumni gathering, bringing together former classmates, faculty, and friends for an afternoon of celebration, reflection, and renewed connection.
Held at the renowned Royal Albert Palace in Fords, New Jersey, the event welcomed over 75 attendees, alumni spanning generations from 1962 to 2021, united by their shared experiences and enduring bond with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee.
The family-friendly program began with the ‘Kulgeet’, IIT Roorkee’s iconic theme song, followed by recognitions, live entertainment, dhole, dance music, and a heartfelt tribute to beloved mentors and milestones from the institution’s history.
An eminent California-based entrepreneur and 1998-batch IIT Roorkee alumnus, Mr. Harish Tejvani of ARIVE, addressed the gathering virtually, sharing his remarkable professional journey and insights. His message was deeply inspiring and resonated strongly with attendees.
The gathering continues to grow each year. This year’s event honored the oldest attending alumnus (1960 batch) and the youngest woman alumnus (2021 batch). Attendees traveled from across the East Coast—including Georgia, North Carolina, New York, Pennsylvania, Washington, D.C.—and even from India.
Reflecting on the event, Dr. Lov Kher, IIT Roorkee engineering graduate of 1975, shared: “Great memories and a wonderful reunion. I know there is a lot of planning, commitment, and effort behind the scenes in organizing such events. My sincere thanks and appreciation to all members of the organizing team. Looking forward to many more.”
“This get together shows that while time moves on, the sense of community we created here never fades,” said Mr. Charan Singh, one of the event’s organizing volunteers. “It’s wonderful to reconnect with so many familiar faces, and we’re eager to strengthen and expand this network for the future.”
Brijesh Kumar, PhD, said, “We’re grateful to our dedicated volunteer alumni and their families for rallying so quickly to make this event possible. We also welcome younger batches to join in and carry this effort forward.”
Attendees left inspired, energized, and committed to staying connected—with many expressing their intent to return next year. Gunjan Mishra, thanked all attendees, volunteers and sponsors and support staff.
The program was made possible through the generous support of sponsors including Providence Abstract LLC, Better Homes (Ms. Sonia Banota, 1991 batch), and Mr. Anshul Garg an IIT Roorkee alumnus. The event was organized by a dedicated volunteers representing multiple IIT Roorkee batches, who worked collaboratively over several weeks. Volunteers include, JP Verma, Ankur Saxena, Amit Verma, Gunjan Mishra, Surabhi Sharma, RishiRaj Agarwal, Vinay Tiwari, Deepak Sharma, Sanjai Khanna, Sanjeev Agarwal, Sanjay Soni, Sonia Banota, Ashok Arora, Charan Singh and Brijesh Kumar.
