Health Camp of New Jersey (HCNJ) successfully conducted its annual Community Health Fair on Sunday, September 13, 2026, at Durga Temple in South Brunswick, providing more than 100 individuals with free health screenings, disease prevention services, health education, specialty consultations, vaccinations, and referrals.
The community health fair brought together healthcare professionals, medical students, community organizations, and dedicated volunteers to provide accessible preventive healthcare services to uninsured, underinsured, and underserved individuals. Participants received a broad range of screenings and health services designed to promote early detection, disease prevention, and healthier lifestyles.
Services offered during the health fair included blood testing, EKGs, physical examinations, blood pressure and diabetes screening, vision screening, cancer prevention education, cardiovascular assessments, women’s health services, pharmacy and medication counseling, nutrition and dietary counseling, mental health resources, physical therapy, alternative medicine services, and flu vaccinations. Specialty services and consultations were also available in cardiology, neurology, endocrinology, and gynecology, providing participants with an opportunity to discuss health concerns and receive recommendations for appropriate follow-up care.
A major component of the event was the participation of community and healthcare partners. SAMHIN, Trenton Health, RWJ-New Brunswick, Penn Medicine Princeton, Marlboro Medical Arts Pharmacy, SSAI, and the Beat to Breathe CPR group contributed educational resources and services. Participants also received CPR/AED familiarization and lifesaving education, helping community members become more prepared to respond to medical emergencies.
The success of the health fair was made possible through the selfless service of numerous volunteers, including members of the Rotary Club of North & South Brunswick & Plainsboro (RCOP) under the leadership of its dedicated team, Interact Club youth volunteers, HCNJ volunteers, and medical students from RWJ-New Brunswick. Volunteers assisted with registration, patient navigation, screenings, health education, logistics, and other essential activities throughout the event. Together, their collective efforts helped make the annual Community Health Fair a meaningful day of healthcare, prevention, education, service, and community partnership.
Dr. Tushar B. Patel, President of Health Camp of New Jersey, expressed his sincere appreciation to everyone who contributed to the success of the program. The event also demonstrated the importance of collaboration between healthcare institutions and community organizations in addressing barriers to healthcare access. Through its annual health fairs and community outreach programs, HCNJ continues to bring preventive healthcare directly into the communities it serves.
HCNJ has been providing free and accessible health services to underserved communities for more than 26 years. Since its inception, the organization has provided health screenings to more than 14,500 individuals throughout New Jersey and identified more than 4,500 chronic disease abnormalities, enabling participants to receive education, early intervention, and recommendations for appropriate follow-up care.
The organization will also celebrate the Grand Opening of the Lata Atul Shah Community Health Center in Somerset on September 19, 2026. The new community health center will expand access to year-round primary care, preventive services, chronic disease management, health education, referrals, and follow-up care.
The next community Health Camp is scheduled on Sunday, November 15, 2026, at Shree Swaminarayan Temple in Secaucus, New Jersey.
