In New Jersey, the foundation over the past three decades has been working to foster a more balanced, stress-free society with a particular focus on mental health and well-being. Its programs bring breathing, meditation, and self-regulation practices into schools, colleges, healthcare settings, veterans’ programs, and correctional facilities.

“In a time of rising stress and anxiety, New Jersey communities have been practicing these tools for over 30 years,” said Mr. Vikas Chawla, Senior faculty member of the Art of Living foundation. “This evening is about bringing that lived experience together.”

The New Jersey event is part of Gurudev’s continuing U.S. tour and comes as the Art of Living Foundation marks 45 years of service to humanity.

Art of Living New Jersey chapter’s work in schools includes East Side High in Newark where the daily practice of breathing improved performance benchmarks from 20% to over 90%, while SKY Campus Happiness chapters at Rutgers, Stevens Institute of Technology, and Princeton bring these practices to thousands of college students. Its Healing Breaths program has trained more than 500 New Jersey healthcare professionals, while its veterans’ and correctional-facility programs extend this work to communities including the Secaucus Vet Center, Hudson County Correctional Center, and FCI Fort Dix. The foundation’s New Jersey volunteers operate through centers in Piscataway, Princeton, Millburn, Matawan, Voorhees, Mahwah, Asbury Park, Somerset, Jersey City, and Parsippany.
