Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh has been banned by the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE), the industry’s powerful film workers’ body, following his abrupt exit from Farhan Akhtar’s Don 3.
FWICE issued a Non-Cooperation Directive (NCD) against the Dhurandhar star, asking all members to boycott his projects. “Considering the conduct displayed towards the Federation and the stakeholders associated with the project, the office bearers of FWICE have resolved to issue a Non-Cooperation Directive against Mr. Ranveer Singh,” the organization’s note reads.
The controversy began in April when Farhan Akhtar approached FWICE regarding Singh’s sudden departure from Don 3. The actor’s exit reportedly caused a ₹45 crore loss to the production. Despite receiving notices, Singh allegedly provided no response, prompting the industry body’s severe action.
The directive is an industry body-level action and not a legal or government ban, FWICE Chief Ashoke Pandit clarified. However, the boycott effectively bars Singh from Bollywood projects as most industry members will now refuse to work with him.
This marks Singh’s second major controversy in six months. In December 2025, he faced backlash and a police complaint after mimicking Rishab Shetty’s Kantara Daiva scene at IFFI Goa, calling the sacred Chamundi Daiva a “female ghost”. He later issued a public apology, stating he never intended to hurt religious sentiments.
The industry now awaits Singh’s next move as producers’ question whether the ban is legally binding and what this means for his upcoming projects.
