Mumbai Indians authored the highest successful chase in IPL history here at the Wankhede Stadium, storming home by six wickets with 229/4 in 18.4 overs to overhaul Lucknow Super Giants’ 228/5 in a firework‑filled thriller. Backed by an explosive 143‑run opening stand, Rohit Sharma (84 off 44 balls, 6 fours, 7 sixes) and Ryan Rickelton (83 off 32 balls, 5 fours, 6 sixes) turned the chase into a one‑sided spectacle, underlining MI’s resurgence after a patchy start to IPL 2026.
After LSG’s late‑innings surge powered by Nicholas Pooran’s 63 off 21 balls, featuring 8 sixes and 1 four, and a 94‑run second‑wicket partnership with Mitchell Marsh (44 off 25), the visitors had appeared favourites at 90/1 in six overs. However, Corbin Bosch’s 2/20 pegged things back, and MI’s 229/4 in 18.4 overs eclipsed their previous best successful chase of 221 against Kolkata Knight Riders at the same venue earlier this season. Skipper Suryakumar Yadav (12) and Tilak Varma (11) chipped in for good measure before Naman Dhir (23*), with Will Jacks (10), polished off the record‑breaking run‑chase.
