Just hours before the music and trailer launch of ‘Brilliant Idea’ at Royal Albert’s Palace in New Jersey on February 26, 2026, radio host RJ Sanjiv Pandya sat down with Bollywood’s iconic playback singer Kumar Sanu for an exclusive conversation on Radio Zindagi, America’s Number One South Asian radio station. With anticipation building around the Indian-American film—featuring Sanu’s voice in its title track—the interview offered a rare, candid glimpse into the singer’s enduring legacy and his latest musical venture. (Laughs) Yes… yes… I know—you’re connecting this to my upcoming film “Brilliant Idea.”
RJ Sanjiv Pandya:
Absolutely, Sanu da! First of all congratulations on singing a beautiful song in your upcoming Indian-American film ‘Brilliant Idea’. Tell us more about this film.
Kumar Sanu:
Brilliant Idea is a wonderful comedy film directed by Rabinder Parasher, who is also a very good friend of mine. We have previously worked together on a film titled “Yeh Sunday Kyun Aata Hai.” He makes films that focus more on realism.
RJ Sanjiv Pandya:
Got it. Nice to hear that. Now Sanu da, could you please tell us something about your experience of singing for the film.
Kumar Sanu:
I have sung the title track of ‘Brilliant Idea’. The music has been composed by Chander Mohan, who has done a fantastic job. The lyrics, written by Rajesh Prasher, are very unique and humorous. It was truly enjoyable to sing, and I’m sure the audience will love it.
RJ Sanjiv Pandya:
Yes, absolutely. Audience will definitely love your song. In fact, Audience is curious to listen to this new song of yours. So could you tell us about your association with film’s director Rabinder Parasher?
Kumar Sanu:
I have known Rabinder Parasher ji for many years and have closely followed his work. He is a very talented and hardworking director.
He has also provided opportunities to many new artists, which is commendable. I really liked the concept of this film. I would encourage everyone to watch ‘Brilliant Idea’ in theaters when it releases.
RJ Sanjiv Pandya:
Absolutely Sanu da. And you know Sanu da, this film is full of local artists. ‘Brilliant Idea’ features fresh talent of New Jersey, with having Mr. J.S. King and Ricky in the lead roles, along with more than 55 local actors and technicians from New Jersey. It is essentially New Jersey’s very own film—made with local talent and shot entirely in the state. What are your thoughts on this?
Kumar Sanu:
Yes, I know—it’s fantastic. Brilliant Idea is full of fresh talent of New Jersey. I would like to wish Ricky, J.S. King, and all the actors and technicians from New Jersey my very best. It’s wonderful to see so much local talent coming together for this project.
RJ Sanjiv Pandya:
Why should audiences watch Brilliant Idea, Sanu da?
Kumar Sanu:
In today’s fast-paced world, we need light-hearted comedies that can refresh our mood. Brilliant Idea is one such film. I extend my best wishes to the entire team and hope the film achieves great success.
