The Indian government has banned the song “Sarke Chunariya” starring Nora Fatehi and Sanjay Dutt. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw confirmed the decision in Parliament on Wednesday.
The track from the film KD: The Devil faced huge anger soon after its release. People called its lyrics dirty and said it showed women in a bad light. Groups like the women’s commissions in Haryana and Karnataka spoke out against it. Actor Kangana Ranaut, singer Armaan Malik, and MP Ravi Kishan also slammed the song.
Vaishnaw told the Lok Sabha that the ban is already in place. He answered a question from Samajwadi Party MP Anand Bhadouria. “Freedom of speech cannot be total,” the minister said. He pointed to Article 19(2) of the Constitution, which sets limits for public order, decency, and morals.
The minister stressed that free speech must fit with Indian society and culture. He added that the government will take tough steps to protect kids, women, and weak groups from bad online content. “We follow the rules made by our Constitution makers,” Vaishnaw said.
Many filed complaints asking for police action and song removal. A petition went to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) too. This ban shows the government’s stand on harmful media in the digital age.
